Last week pop star Rihanna was the victim of racism. A Dutch magazine "Jackie" did a fashion story about how to dress like the trendsetting superstar and, in turn, called Rihanna “the ultimate n***a b***h.”

Rihanna got wind of this and naturally took to Twitter to express her outrage and disgust. She wrote to the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine Eva Hoeke:

“@evajackie I hope u can read english, because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights! I find you disrespectful, and rather desperate!! You ran out of legit, civilized information to print! There are 1000′s of Dutch girls who would love to be recognized for their contributions to your country, you could have given them an article. Instead, u paid to print one degrading an entire race! That’s your contribution to this world! To encourage segregation, to mislead the future leaders to act in the past!"

In a surprise twist. Rihanna confessed to a fan that she uses the N word daily. As a fan (now ex fan) I was shocked that Rihanna would use such a malicious humiliating word. Especially after she said herself "the word is degrading to an entire race". So why is it ok for her to use it? I'm a caucasian female and I believe the word is full of hatred and should never be used by anyone. No matter the race. I'm so disappointed that Rihanna who has a platform to do so many positive things would encourage ignorance.

African Americans, and particularly performers and media influencers, should be more conscious of the images and values they are using to define and represent their culture and people. Chanel has hired Amy Wechsler, a Manhattan-based physician who is board certified in both dermatology and psychiatry, as its U.S. advisor.

Derek Lam has sent a cease and desist letter to Ivanka Trump, who he claims “blatantly and intentionally copied” his Ayami wedge sandal. At issue is Trump's "Cadie" wedge sandal ($150), which Lam alleges is virtually identical to his "Ayami" wedge ($780). According to WWD, one of the shoe designers at Derek Lam was apparently shopping on Bloomingdales.com and spotted the Trump shoe, then called up the the Derek Lam CEO:

“We have seen very similar copies before but we have never seen a shoe that perfectly copied,” said Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann, chief executive officer of Derek Lam. “It’s such an investment to make a shoe ... we had to protest this.”

Schlottman tells WWD that he hasn't yet seen the physical shoe in person -- he's ordered a pair -- but was convinced enough by the look of the shoe online to take action.

Cinemagraphs are like animated GIFs as far as the image format is concerned but a big difference is that, in a Cinemagraph, only a portion of a photograph is moving in an infinite loop while everything else is frozen. Those fees generated $19 billion dollars per year for banks. So how do they fix the problem? By making you and I pay the difference.

In an interview published last Saturday in Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica, Anna Wintour called the Italian prime minister a dictator and urges the world of fashion to rebel against him during fashion week (side-eye). ~~How about focus on the U.S~~.

According to Wintour, Italys reputation for great design and manufacture is being damaged by Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's reputation, US Vogue editor Anna Wintour says.

"On one side, there is the Made in Italy, the designers, the great creations that credit you around the world and that have no equal. On the other side, there is a political reality that is so compromised. How can you tolerate all this?" Wintour said to an Italian newspaper on Saturday, as she visited the country for Milan Fashion Week.

"I am disgusted. I have no other words," she told La Repubblica. "I am disgusted and embarrassed: How can Italy tolerate Silvio Berlusconi and his bevy of girls?" Don't worry I'm lost also lol. Wth?

Minutes after Dolce & Gabbana runway show, they walk down the catwalk and bowed. Soon after a statement appeared in the inboxes of the show attendees informing them that Dolce and Gabbana are shutting the cheaper D&G label in order to concentrate on their main collection. "Spring 2012 will be the last of D&G."

Vogue And Major Retailers Plans To End Fashion Night Out

According to staff at Vogue magazine, Fashion Night Out is done. Large retailers such as Barneys NYC, Neiman Marcus, Saks, and shockingly even Macy's complained it's to much work and not enough money.

According to a insider who was present for the FNO meeting. 85% of the retailers reported they saw no changes in sales but instead lost revenue on entertainment and employee overtime. Most retailers were expecting (partygoers to shop) to earn the money they put into the event back, with interest. ~~Partygoers instead partied, ate, and drank leaving retailers with the tab.~~

If FNO happens next year don't expect Vogue, designer boutiques, or the larger department stores to be involved. They refuse to wine and dine for free. There are some retailers who plan to continue FNO but on a smaller scale.

Harper's Bazaar To Decrease Its Yearly Issues And Increase Content

Harper's Bazaar will increase its magazine pages but reduce it frequency. Instead of 12 issues per year, subscribers will only recieve 10 issues per year (but more content). The changes will begin in December 2011. Hearst will combine December 2011 with January 2012. The cover price will remain $3.99.
