Word on the street is Kimora's spending habits and diva ways may have costed her Baby Phat. Kimora was allegedly warned about her hefty spending several times before she and Kellwood the company that owns Baby Phat had a fallout thats why she so abruptly announced it on twitter unprofessionally. She would pay herself a fee to be in the ads, plus she paid her children fees to appear in ads. It costs thousands of dollars to airbrush her. Plus, they spent a ton of money on body doubles. The last straw came when Kellwood informed Kimora that they would not pay for her to present at fashion week in September. According to a source, it just cost to much to keep her around.
Kellwood the company that owns Baby Phat almost filed chapter 11 in 2009, so it should not have been a surprised to Kimora that they would not tolerate her diva demands.
As annoying as Kimora is, I'm not sure there will be a Baby Phat brand without her. The owners of Baby Phat associated so much of Kimora's image with the brand, it may be difficult to sell it without her. The good news is Kellwood owns hundreds of other brands and is one of the world's largest clothing retailers, so they would be able to survive without Baby Phat.
