Jimmy Choo Founder Tamara Mellon Helps Aids Victims With Elton John

On November 14, Tamara Mellon will launch her collaboration with H&M. She has also been working on a programme to fund a rape crisis centre in South Africa in partnership with the Elton John Aids Foundation. A limited-edition collection of accessories launching Project PEP, which stands for “post-exposure prophylaxis” drugs, hits the shelves tomorrow.
A quarter of the net sales from the collection will fund Project PEP at the Simelela centre in Cape Town, where rape victims have been exposed to the HIV virus. The PEP anti-retroviral drugs, if taken within 72 hours of exposure, reduce the chance of contracting the virus by 79 per cent. The British launch of Project PEP takes place tomorrow, jimmychoo.com
