Narciso Rodriguez's President Kathy Kalesti Has Resign

Kathy Kalesti, president and longtime business partner to Narciso Rodriguez, announced today that she will be leaving the company effective tomorrow. No reason has been given for her sudden departure. “Working with Narciso has been a great experience,” she said. Kalesti joined Rodriguez as senior vice president of sales and marketing in 1997, and took on the role of president of the company late last year.


Kalesti is credited with aiding Rodriguez through his serious financial troubles in 2007, which ended his partnership with Liz Claiborne, and Rodriguez regaining full ownership of his brand).

Maura Kelly Comments Causes Marie Claire Backlash And PR Nightmare

Maura Kelly, contributor to popular women’s magazine Marie Claire, provoked 1200 angry comments, Twitter outrage and blogger fury after posting a controversial piece called Should “Fatties” Get A Room? (Even On TV?) earlier this week.

Kelly slammed CBS sitcom Mike & Molly, which follows two obese characters who meet at an Overeaters Anonymous group and fall in love. She unabashedly offered her opinion of the show (“implicitly promoting obesity”) and took what many called an insensitive tone. Without having watched the show, she wrote, “I’d be grossed out if I had to watch two characters with rolls and rolls of fat kissing each other … because I’d be grossed out if I had to watch them doing anything.

Kelly Cutrone Assistant Pulled A Brad Stabs Kelly In The Back Trying To Pitch His Own Show

PR powerhouse Kelly Cutrone says that her goth-lite, Rick-Owens-wearing assistant Andrew Mukamal got too big for his britches after a short stint on television. "He cared more about being a TV personality than being my assistant," Cutrone told Page Six. "Just because you worked as an assistant in the fashion industry doesn't make you an expert." Since leaving Cutrone's company People's Revolution, Mukamal has pitched his own show to E!.

Give some a inch they want a mile. Fame is a monster not for everyone. I love Brad from Rachel Zoe's Project but I do feel like he stabbed Rachel in the back a little. Brad had only spent two seasons on Rachels's show he did not have any experience in the fashion industry but two or three years later he's a fashion guru?!?!? lol (not to mention Rachel did most of the high fashion picks while Brad  was all over the place). I hope 
next season Rachel will allow the show
 to revolve around her and her only.

The rumors were true: Whitney Port's reality show, The City is officially canceled. Port confirmed the cancellation on Ryan Seacrest's radio show this morning:

"As of right now it doesn't really look like we're doing it anymore," said the 25 year-old fashion designer. When asked if it could possible move from MTV to another network, Port said, "No, at this point it's not."

W Magazine Creative Director Jody Quon Quits Her Job After Six Months

Visual wizard/guru Jody Quon has resigned from W magazine after creatively leading just three issues (including November’s “Art Issue,” which digitally draped Kim Kardashian in the signature red-backed Futura bold italic phrases of artist Barbara Kruger).

“It was a mutual decision and her position won’t be filled,” a W spokesperson said, who also noted that the departure makes design director Joseph Logan the magazine’s top creative.

RihannaDaily: How did you start working with Rihanna?

Karin Darnell: I started working with Rihanna about 4 years ago! I was her make up artist in the UK and Europe. This progressed to USA and rest of the world just over a year ago. From the ‘Hard’ video onwards.

RihannaDaily: Are you a fan of her/were you a fan before you’ve started working together?
Karin Darnell: When I started working with Rihanna, only ‘Pon the Replay’ had been released, I loved the song and after I met her, I loved working with her too!
I work with many major artists and you never know where things may lead and how an artists career will go! I was certain Rihanna would turn out to be a major artist, but as an English make up artist, based in London, I could never have anticipated my future role in her image! And I feel truly blessed and genuinely enjoy the creative process working along side Ursula (hair) and Mariel and Rob (stylists) and or course with Rihanna herself!

RihannaDaily: Is Rihanna allowing you to put any kind of make-up you suggest or does she participate in the process of creation of her look? 
Karin Darnell: Whenever I answer questions about the make up looks on Rihanna, I always acknowledge it as a collaboration between Rihanna and myself! Everything is a work in progress! We both love fashion, and trends! Rihanna ‘gets it!’ I like to move forward all the time. Make up is there… to experiment with and to celebrate. Sometimes extreme but always an expression of the moment! Rihanna is the perfect artist, she is most importantly, open minded and unafraid! This is rare! Very rare! Louis Vuitton Buys 14% Of Hermes

According to Bloomberg, Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton  has purchased 14.2 percent of Hermes and doesn’t plan on taking control of its rival.

LVMH, which declined to say if it held Hermes shares before today, said the total cost of the purchase would be 1.45 billion euros ($2 billion). An external spokesman for Paris-based LVMH, who asked not to be identified, declined to give further details. Investors in France must disclose shareholdings of five percent and more.

“LVMH has no intention of launching a tender offer, taking control of Hermes nor seeking board representation,” LVMH said today in a statement. “The objective of LVMH is to be a long- term shareholder of Hermes. LVMH fully supports the strategy implemented by the founding family and the management team.” Calls to Hermes were not immediately returned.

Hermes shares have climbed 77 percent in Paris since the May 1 death of former Chief Executive Officer Jean-Louis Dumas on speculation the company’s founding family may be more willing to sell. His death caused no change in the Hermes family’s attachment to the maker of Birkin bags and silk scarves, the company said at the time. Most of Hermes stock is privately held.
