Rihanna Using The Word Nigga After Criticizing A Dutch Magazine For Using The Word

Last week pop star Rihanna was the victim of racism. A Dutch magazine "Jackie" did a fashion story about how to dress like the trendsetting superstar and, in turn, called Rihanna “the ultimate n***a b***h.”

Rihanna got wind of this and naturally took to Twitter to express her outrage and disgust. She wrote to the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine Eva Hoeke:

“@evajackie I hope u can read english, because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights! I find you disrespectful, and rather desperate!! You ran out of legit, civilized information to print! There are 1000′s of Dutch girls who would love to be recognized for their contributions to your country, you could have given them an article. Instead, u paid to print one degrading an entire race! That’s your contribution to this world! To encourage segregation, to mislead the future leaders to act in the past!"
In a surprise twist. Rihanna confessed to a fan that she uses the N word daily. As a fan (now ex fan) I was shocked that Rihanna would use such a malicious humiliating word. Especially after she said herself "the word is degrading to an entire race". So why is it ok for her to use it? I'm a caucasian female and I believe the word is full of hatred and should never be used by anyone. No matter the race. I'm so disappointed that Rihanna who has a platform to do so many positive things would encourage ignorance.

African Americans, and particularly performers and media influencers, should be more conscious of the images and values they are using to define and represent their culture and people. Otherwise, it may be increasingly difficult to be taken as anything other than hypocritical when the N-word comes home to roost in the future. See Rihanna tweets below.

Derek Lam Claims Ivanka Trump "Blatantly" Copied His Shoe Design
Derek Lam has sent a cease and desist letter to Ivanka Trump, who he claims “blatantly and intentionally copied” his Ayami wedge sandal. At issue is Trump's "Cadie" wedge sandal ($150), which Lam alleges is virtually identical to his "Ayami" wedge ($780). According to WWD, one of the shoe designers at Derek Lam was apparently shopping on Bloomingdales.com and spotted the Trump shoe, then called up the the Derek Lam CEO:

“We have seen very similar copies before but we have never seen a shoe that perfectly copied,” said Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann, chief executive officer of Derek Lam. “It’s such an investment to make a shoe ... we had to protest this.”
Schlottman tells WWD that he hasn't yet seen the physical shoe in person -- he's ordered a pair -- but was convinced enough by the look of the shoe online to take action.

Sears Kardashian Kollection Sales Hit A All Time Low On Verge Of Being Axed

The Kardashian Kollection for Sears isn’t selling. According to Wall Street Journal & MSN Money, Sears bet on the Kardashian Kollection to stir up consumer excitement only to be rewarded with plummeting sales and a lot of clearance racks boasting the products.

Sears, which has consistently had negative earnings, has posted losses for every quarter so far this year. The company's highly anticipated Kardashian Kollection has more money going out then coming in.
The kollection has been besieged by troubles, including Sears being forced to pull certain products for copyright infringement. The Kardashian Kollection days maybe numbered at Sears. The Kardashian Bebe Collection was canceled due to low sales earlier this year. Read more.

What Your Favorite Color Says About Your Personality & Style

Yellow. Yellow is the color of happiness and imagination. Those that prefer yellow are mentally adventurous, precise thinkers with a good sense of humor. Always on the search for self-fulfillment and knowledge, they prefer freedom to responsibility.  You can come across as too ego-centric otherwise. Now, if you’re dating someone whose favorite hue is yellow, make sure to jump in and share stories about yourself, since this person may not give you much room.

Blue. Tried and true describes those who prefer blue. Lovers of blue are caring, compassionate, self-controlled and have a strong sense of duty. They always consider the opinions of others, but are steadfast in their own beliefs and suspicious of flamboyant behavior.  If blue is your favorite color, you never run out of anything to say — expression is your strong suit. And if you’re dating a “blue” person? The same holds true; you should always know where you stand.

Purple. Those that prefer purple don’t follow the crowd. Artistic, witty and sensitive, people who like purple best have a strong desire to be unique and different. They are also tolerant, dignified and unconventional. You can be an imaginative romantic or prefer imaginary romance, depending on how you feel.

Black. Those that love mystery are drawn to black. They are also dignified without being showy and skilled at hiding their fears, uncertainties and flaws. Hmm. They sound a little mysterious themselves. The silence of this color lets others fill in the blanks. Black says, “I’m not telling you anything.” People who love black can be tough nuts to crack, but quite possibly worth the effort.

Gray. Gray is the color of caution and compromise. Those that prefer gray are diligent, composed, peaceful and hard working. Even keeled, they tend to work for a sense of purpose, rather than reward.

White.  is light — the combination of all colors. White symbolizes purity (the traditional bridal dress, the christening gown) and spirituality. There’s a simplicity to it, too. While white isn’t the sexiest color, it is certainly healthy.

Green. Here is the heart of the matter: green is the color of love. (It’s no coincidence that we make our money in the same color...) Green is the color of life and abundance — leaves, grass, plants — it’s all about growing, expanding, and living. So why don’t we give ferns instead of roses on Valentine’s Day? Because green is about expansive, humanistic love and acceptance, not bodice-ripping romance. What’s more, green is a nice-person color, a “do-gooder, be-gooder” kind of color. This person has a warm heart. Passion is probably in there somewhere, buried under their integrity and honor. If you love green, you put the greater good before your own good — but try a little selfish behavior once in a while.

Red. The color of strength, health, and vitality, Red is often the color chosen by someone outgoing, aggressive, vigorous and impulsive—or someone who would like to be! It goes with an ambitious nature but those who choose it can be abrupt at times, determined to get all they can out of life, quick to judge people and take sides. Red people are usually optimistic and can’t stand monotony; they are rather restless and not at all introspective, so they may be unaware of their own shortcomings. They find it hard to be objective and may blame others for any mishaps. Quiet people with a preference for red may feel the need for the warmth, strength and life-giving qualities of the color, or they blanket their true feelings under a sober exterior. Red is usually chosen by people with open and uncomplicated natures, with a zest for life.

Pink. This color embodies the gentler qualities of Red, symbolizing love and affection without passion. Women who prefer Pink tend to be maternal. Pink desires protection, special treatment and a sheltered life. Pink people require affection and like to feel loved and secure, perhaps wanting to appear delicate and fragile. Pink people tend to be charming and gentle, if a trifle indefinite.
Orange. This color of luxury and pleasure appeals to the flamboyant and fun-loving person who likes a lively social round. Orange people may be inclined to dramatize a bit, and people notice them, but they are generally good-natured and popular. They can be a little fickle and vacillating, but on the whole they try hard to be agreeable. Orange is the color of youth, strength, fearlessness, curiosity and restlessness.
