Elle magazine's fashion news director Anne Slowey, gave birth to her first child Wedsenday night. The baby, Afton Florabelle Lawson, was born at 12:13 p.m October 20, 2010. We hear the baby father's ( Rodger Fairey) girlfriend is not to thrill (baby mama drama).

Under The Radar: Vera Wang's President Mario Grauso Divorcing His Wife And Burberry May Soon Be Bought Out By Louis Vuitton LVMH Group

According to the New York Post, Anne and Mario Grauso have called it quits after 18 years of marriage. Anne confirmed the split to Page Six and called her separation from her husband, the president of Vera Wang, "amicable." 


 Rumors have been circulating that Burberry could be the target of a takeover by luxury group, like PPR or LVMH (louis Vuitton). Cartwright (Burbery's CFO) declined to comment on the rumors, but did say: “We have a lot of growth ahead, and we’re keeping our heads down and getting on with our work. We’re delighted with the progress so far.”  Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts is “committed to this business.”

Under The Radar: Vogue To Launch Online Fashion Night Out November 1st And The Gap Does Damage Control After Public Backlash

Following the success of the "Fashion Night Out", Vogue is set to launch an online version of the night for e-tailers. On from November 1st 5pm, My-wardrobe, Asos, Net-a-Porter, Matches, Browns and other online fashion retailers will be attempting to increase their web traffic with a number of incentives for customers, including exclusive discounts and competitions. There will also be live blog updates from journalists on the evening.
Gap will return to using its 20-year old “blue box” brand logo with GAP written in white and abandon the new logo which had GAP written in black with a graduated blue box at the top right corner.
The brand introduced the new logo on its US website last week but the change met with an “outpouring of comments from customers and online community in support of the iconic blue box logo,” the company says.

 Diane von Furstenberg has signed a deal with ID Beauty to launch a beauty line, starting with a women’s fragrance this fall. Diane is no stranger to the beauty world, she launched a scent called Tatiana, plus a make-up collection back in the seventies but sold it in 1983. For her new and improved line she had her eye on one beauty expert to work with her, Chantal Roos, the former president of YSL Beaute. No date has been given for debut. 


My boss got a invite for Jimmy Choo fragrance preview and it said the following:
“It has always been my vision to fully accessorize the woman, and fragrance is an integral part of the modern wardrobe. I look forward to bringing this important aspect of my vision to life.”

Under The Radar: American Apparel Saved From Bankruptcy And Betsey Johnson's Ceo Leaves The Company After 30 Years

American Apparel is more than $91 million in debt and was facing the possibility of closing 280 store within the next few months. Now comes word that a british firm Lion Capital has changed the terms of its lending policy so thatAmerican Apparel won't go bankrupt, reports WWD. According to the terms of the new agreement, American Apparel must make a profit of $20 million over the 12 months ending Jan. 31, and must earn $80 million by September 2013. I don't see this happening, unless they start selling Chanel lol.


Betsey Johnson and CEO of her label, Chantal Bacon, announced her retirement today, but she’s been scaling back her responsibilities at the company since April, when it came to light that the company had defaulted on a $48.8 million loan. This announcement comes just a month after Steve Madden announced it would take over the responsibilities of the loan.

Two Barneys Co-Op stores will close next year, the Houston Galleria in January and the Westchester Mall in White Plains, New York in late February or March, according to sources. 


Calvin Klein plans to build its Ck One fragrance label into a global lifestyle brand. In a bid to connect with a younger customer base, the label will relaunch the label.

According to rumors, Gucci demanded all girls cast in their show fly into Milan, pronto. Which left Burberry's usual all-star London lineup Freja Beha Erichsen and Lily Donaldson not able to particapate in Burberry's show line up.


The controversial founder of Rock & Republic, Michael Ball, will avoid filing chapter 11. A New York firm that owns Liz Lange maternity wear will fund the company $60 million, under the agreement Rock & Republic's will expand into new product lines.




Under The Radar: Ivana Trump Sues Finnish Label Mariah Carey Teams With HSN For Butterfly Accessories

Former model Ivana Trump has reportedly filed a lawsuit against designer Paola Ivana Suhonen and her accessory label for trademark infringement. Ivana Trump, who has designed clothing in the past, trademarked the "Ivana" name for her jewelry and eyewear collections in 2002, claims the Finnish label is trying to fool people "into the erroneous belief" that she is "connected in some way," with Ivana Trump.

Mariah is collaborating with HSN to bring her fans a new line of jewelry, shoes, and perfume. The theme will be butterfly inspired by her hit albums and singles. 
The collection won't debut until Nov. 29, when it will be available on HSN and at hsn.com, shoes will range from $69.90 to $169.90 and jewelry -- featuring colorful stones and that signature butterfly -- will run $39.99 to $199.95.
