Oliva Palermo's 10 Fashion Decorum

1. In every outfit, I always try and incorporate a single trend, but in a subtle way.

    2. I would describe my style as modern, but classic.

    3. I always like to wear one very structured piece, like a great jacket or a skirt.

    4. For next season I like the look of all the embellished clothes, and those copper-toned metallics, although not everyone can pull that off…

    5. You don’t always have to stay high end – I like mixing and matching.

    6. My favourite item of clothing right now is a Topshop white cardigan with a pale blue pinstripe; it’s so easy to wear.

    7. My favourite accessory is my Chloe ‘Gemma’ bag, which I bought in London in July. I have it in army green. That’s such a great colour because it works for summer or winter.

    8. My favourite jewellery? I like chunky! I like to wear one big statement piece, a ring, a bracelet or a necklace. But I mostly like big rings [she flashes an enormous gold cocktail ring – Olivia has just started working as Contributing Accessories Editor at an American Magazine].

    9. I like to wear a heel, I just got some chunky black platforms that you’ll see in the Unique show..

    10. One great piece can take you through an entire season. Like, recently, I bought these Sergio Rossi silver brogues. I bought them in Berlin, they’re absolutely my favourite thing right now! -Garzia

Among the items on their agenda: the protection of intellectual-property rights for designers, the creation of enterprise zones across the country to promote local talent, and the need to ensure that New York City’s garment district doesn’t become a denizen of more condos and tourist traps. “This caucus isn’t about the image of fashion, it’s about the business of fashion,” said Christine Brooks-Cropper. Do you know anyone who wants to be a tailor?” he asked. “I don’t either. But I do know many people who want to be models, and not only models, but supermodels. Abercrombie Fitch Loses To Autistic Customer

Abercrombie Fitch was ordered to pay $115,264, after they refused to let Molly Maxson bring her sister into a dressing room at the story. Maxson is autistic and even after her sister and mother tried to explain the teen's disability, the store refused to break their "one-at-a-time" in the dressing room policy.
Abercrombie appealed the fine and corrective actions, but sent the petition for the appeal to the Department of Human Rights by first-class mail, rather than by certified mail or hand-delivery. The company missed the deadline, and will no longer fight the penalties. -Star Tribune

Sessilee Lopez Model Behavior Cat Fight With Chanel Iman

During London Fashion Week critics were buzzing about how Chanel Iman’s boyfriend was accompanying her to every show.  While people assumed it was just love others say it was because she was worried about fellow model Sessilee Lopez starting some mess.

Some say Sessilee is known for starting trouble and most recently had a tantrum backstage at a show and began throwing chairs at people. On the other hand people say it was Chanel who started rumors about Sessilee because of her jealousy that Sessilee got the Italian Vogue cover and she didn’t. Can't we just all get along. Black models are scarce and most would die for such opportunities, cut the bull ladies.

    Minx Nails My Addiction

MINX Nails are definitely one of the hottest trends in the nail industry right now. I've worn MINX to many social events and believe me , they are real conversation starters. I was introduce to MINX Nails in 2008 at Bella Mia Spa and fell in love. Once you wear MINX it is difficult to convert back to polish.
The MINX Manicure cost $40.00 for a set, the treatment usually last me for five days, and yes I go back for another set. My aunt has
put me on notice that I may only have three treatments
per month. My addiction to MINX is so bad that, if
I cant wear MINX I will not wear anything on my nails at all.

Oliva Palermo Interview With The Fashpack

The Fash Pack: So what shows are you excited to see at London Fashion Week this season?

Olivia Palermo: I only arrived last night so unfortunately, I'm leaving over the weekend.

The Fash Pack: Oh no, really?

Olivia: I know. I have to be back in New York next week to wrap up production so I have to be back for that but I'm here to see Matthew Williamson and Topshop.

The Fash Pack: Amazing. So were there any shows that particularly stood out to you in New York?

Olivia: I would probably have to say Susan Moon. I'm a good friend of the designer. I think she is amazing and truly beyond her years. She has really elegant pieces. Also, Frank Tell, who I've watched for many years and supported showed a lot of dark metallic pieces that I loved.

The Fash Pack: Your style is admired and copied by many who have been following you on 'The City'. Do you have any style tips?

Olivia: I would say, stick to your own sense of style. Incoporate the trends but make sure that doesn't take over your whole style. Also, definitely invest in key pieces that will take you from season to season.

Diane von Furstenberg Talks To Harper Bazaar About Having Cancer And A Time When People Thought She Was A Has Been

Bazaar: In 1989 you moved back to New York. Did you lose yourself?
DVF: Yes a bit. So when I came back to New York, I saw I had lost that identity I had, from the minute I first arrived. I just felt completely irrelevant and people look at me as a has- been. I tried to get my business back it was in the hands of people who did not care, it had lost its spirit, it was horrible. It was really hard and really bad. As a result I got cancer in my tongue, I think it was because I was unable to express myself.
Bazaar: How did you find out you had cancer?
DVF: I had lunch with Ralph Lauren, because Barry (her husband) brought QVC and we were trying to get Ralph. I did not really know Ralph Lauren that well, back then. We started to speak and he became very open to me. He told me he had a brain tumor not malignant." I asked how did you find out about it?" And Ralph said I had a noise in my ear and I went to the doctor. The minute he tells me that, I think funny, I been having noises in my ear. So I went to the doctor. He notice a swollen gland and took a biopsy. It was a tumor, they took it out and I had radiation for 8 weeks, that was 15 years ago. -Harper Bazaar
