Givenchy Files A Suit Aganist BCBG For Copying Their Nightingale Handbag

Givenchy filed a lawsuit against BCBG Max Azria, claiming that the BCBG Rembrandt handbag looks a little too much like Givenchy’s Nightingale purse to be a coincidence. The French house’s gripe is that BCBG has copied the “decorative double stitched horizontal and vertical stripes on the exterior that visually separate the bag into four distinct quadrants.”


In addition to money damages, Givenchy seeks an injunction preventing further sales of the Rembrandt and other bags that feature the same kind of stitching.

Supermodel Miranda Kerr owns a corner apartment on the 10th floor of the Jade, on West 19th Street off Fifth Avenue. The condo has floor-to-ceiling windows and two Juliet balconies.

The Jade, an unusual loft-style conversion of a 12-story office building, is named for Jade Jagger, a designer and daughter of Mick and Bianca Jagger. Jade Jagger helped both design it and to create a marketing buzz for the units to appeal to younger New Yorkers.

Ms. Kerr, 27 years old, married Orlando Bloom, the 33-year-old British actor and Hollywood leading man, in a private ceremony in July. She is now living in Los Angeles with Mr. Bloom and in August, she confirmed that the couple is expecting a baby.

Jimmy Choo's Founder Tamara Mellon Has Been Appointed UK Business Ambassador

Tamara Mellon has been made a UK business ambassadors by David Cameron. She will be among 32 newly appointed ambassadors who will each use their international contacts to help promote UK business overseas.

According to the BBC, ambassadors are expected to hold government-requested meetings, to brief UK ministers on business priorities and to contribute to government discussions with world leaders. Other recruits include former Lloyds boss Sir Victor Blank and Brent Hoberman.

Halston CEO Bonnie Takhar Has Been Fired

CEO Bonnie Takhar, who has been with the brand since relaunch in 2007, has been fired. Creative differences are reportedly the reason Takhar was let go.

Sarah Jessica Parker, who joined the house in January, taking an equity stake and the role of president and chief creative officer, was reportedly upset after learning that the Halston board requested Takhar leave the company. A source told Page Six: "Sarah and Bonnie had a meeting on Friday in Halston's offices to discuss problems with the latest collection. Sarah has been a strong supporter of Bonnie for a very long time, and has been the sole voice supporting her against the board and shareholders. She has been fighting this for a very long time.  She was emotional (maybe because she is next) and upset because this finally came to a head."

Hermes Hires Lawyers To Fight Louis Vuitton 14% Purchase Of Their Shares

Hermes family, described Arnault and LVMH's presence as thus: "It's like a mosquito buzzing around, and it's annoying. But it's very difficult to get a mosquito out."

So the Hermes family is considering funneling its shares into an unlisted holding company, which would prevent individual family members from selling their shares to outsiders. This would be an extra defense: Puech heads Emile Hermes, the limited partnership that controls the fashion house and is open only to direct descendants of the founders, which is the current defense in place. The limited partnership's by-laws give the Hermes family decision-making power, even if only one family member remains a shareholder — which means it would be difficult for an outsider to control the company without the entire family's approval.

Rachel Roy Helps Champagne Soaked Partygoer

Rachel Roy helped a guest clean up after getting doused with Champagne at the afterparty for "The King's Speech" Monday night. The fashion designer helped the woman scrub the bubbly out of her taffetta dress in the washroom at Forty Four at the Royalton while Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter, Harvey Weinstein, Georgina Chapman and Famke Janssen mingled at the DeLeon Tequila bash. The splash victim told Roy she feared smelling like a booze hound, but a sweet Roy replied, "Don't worry, there was a scent by YSL called Champagne. Just say you're wearing that!"

America's Next Top Model Judge Is Being Sued For Sexual Abuse

America's Next Top Model judge, Nole Marin is being sued by Nicholas Hamman-Howe, an aspiring model, for making "unwanted sexual advances," reports the NY Daily News.

Hamman-Howe, who earned a master's degree in business from Baruch College this year, says in the suit he had never considered a modeling career. But he met Marin in 2007, and the fashion stylist told him he could strike it rich as an underwear or swimwear model because of his "extraordinary physique."

The meeting led to an October 2007 photo shoot at Marin's apartment where Hamman-Howe says he was subjected to crass come-ons and fondling after he stripped down to his underwear.

 As part of a cover profile in its latest issue, Forbes values the Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton chairman and chief executive officer’s net worth at $39 billion, a 41.8 percent boost from the last time the magazine estimated his fortune…in March. Arnault makes an appearance, at No. 43, on the magazine’s list of “The Most Powerful People on Earth.” Though Arnault is the most fashion-centric name on the list, he shares space with a few other power brokers with toeholds in the industry. Wal-Mart ceo Mike Duke clocks in at No. 25 and Mexican billionaire, and Saks investor, Carlos Slim Helú ranks at No. 21.
