Some Disadvantages Verizon iPhone

Verizon says it will begin offering the Apple iPhone on Feb. 10, ending AT&T's lock on the super-popular gadget. The phone will start at $199.99 with a two-year wireless-service contract. Verizon iPhone will run on so-called CDMA networks, they apparently won't work if you travel to Europe -- most networks there aren't CDMA-compatible. Also, you can't make a voice call and access data at the same time. 

Hermes Win Battle Aganist Louis Vuitton The Company Removes Its Shares Off Public Market Avoiding Takeover

The family behind the French luxury group Hermès have won their first victory against fashion giant Louis Vuitton. AMF decreed a waiver Friday in Paris, allowing the heirs of Thierry Hermès to group their shares into a single holding company, without having to launch a public tender to buy out minority shareholders. 


This means shares can only be sold among the family or selected buyers. Making it very difficult for Louis Vuitton to acquire more of Herme's shares (unless someone in their family goes rogue and sell out). Louis Vuitton currently owns 20% of Hermes.

Marc Jacobs Renews Contract With Louis Vuitton And Begin Plans To Open A Third Bookstore And Publishing

According to sources Marc Jacobs has renewed his contract at Louis Vuitton last week. Marc is said to be now planning for expansion of his bookstore "Bookmarc". Marc plans to open a third Bookmarc location in Washington. Marc currently has two Bookmarc locations, New York at 400 Bleecker St and Los Angeles at 8407 Melrose in West Hollywood. He has also expressed a desire to move into publishing. 

Calypso Will Create A Collection For Target Due In Stores May 2011

Calypso St. Barth is the latest label to have teamed up with Target. The collection they will be releasing for Target on May 1 will include “clothing and accessories for women and children, plus home goods like candles, pillows and glassware.” Items max out at $79.99 — quite a change from their usual price point. Celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe has revealed the gender of her forthcoming child – apparently accidentally – using the pronoun "his" to describe the baby's impending arrival in a new interview with Women's Wear Daily. 

Realizing her slip-up, Zoe's husband, Rodger Berman, then lets the cat fully out of the bag, kissing his wife's stomach and acknowledging, "It's a little boy."

Democrats And The Media Try To Use Arizona Tragedy To Demonize Sarah Palin When Democrats Used The Same Map In 1994 Presidential Campaign

I'm not a political junkie but I do feel that the public, the media, and democrats are trying to use the Arizona tragedy to silence and demonize Sarah Palin. I'm not a huge fan of Sarah's but I must say after seeing how the media has treated her and her family. I'm having second thoughts.

The first map above was used by the democrat party in 2004 presidential campaign. The second map was used by Sarah Palin for the 2010 mid elecetion campaign. Hypocrisy you say? 

French Vogue Has A New Editor In Cheif Emmanuelle Alt She Will Begin Feb 1

Vogue France today annouced Emmanuelle Alt, as editor-in-chief, following the departure of Carine Roitfeld last month.

Alt is credited with styling some of Vogue magazine's most memorable spreads.

The 43-year-old fashion journalist joined Vogue in late 2000, months before Roitfeld, after being recruited by Condé Nast International's chairman, Jonathan Newhouse. 

She's good I hear but not the best. I still believe that Sophia Neophitou would have been the BEST choice.

Sears And Urban Outfitters Are Trying To Buy J.Crew

Bloomberg reports that both Sears and Urban Outfitters are interested in purchasing J.Crew. Both companies have been poking around J.Crew's books to see if making an offer is a good idea. If either company makes a bid, it would have to be on paper before Jan. 15.


Sears buying the clothing chain “would be great for Sears, but horrible for J. Crew,” said Christine Chen, a San Francisco-based analyst for Needham & Co. “J. Crew is positioned as aspirational and Sears is not. It would have a negative impact on the J. Crew brand.” A J. Crew-Urban Outfitters tie-up would make less sense because the two companies have overlapping customers (ditto). 

Rebecca Taylor Brand Has Just Been Sold To Kellwood The Same Company That Owns Baby Phat And Vince

Kellwood and its parent company Sun Capital announced it has purchased Rebecca Taylor, the 15-year-old fashion brand founded by designer Rebecca Taylor and her business partner, Elizabeth Bugdaycay. Both will stay with the company.  Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, Kellwood's president and CEO Michael Kramer plans to focus first on, building new stand alone boutiques, online advertisig, and growing wholesale accounts. According to fashion sources Rebecca Taylor brand is worth 45 million. This is one of my favorite labels.

Ex Lucky Magazine Creative Director Is Now Working For ebay Plans To Revamp ebay Entire Image

Andrea Linett, who resign  from Lucky Magazine creative director postition in September. Has began a new position this week. She is the creative director of eBay Fashion. In her new position, she plans to revamp the shopping experience of the site with more upscale imagery reminiscent of a magazine: “It is the same kind of shopping experience, except that it’s a marketplace instead of a magazine.”

Rihanna, Angelina Jolie And Lady GaGa Were The Top Selling Celebrity Magazine Covers Of 2010

According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, Gaga (1), Rihanna (2), and Angelina Jolie (3) were the top selling celebrity covers on the newsstand in 2010 for monthly and biweekly magazines. The results don’t extend all the way through the end of the year (figures for Condé Nast titles go through November; Hearst titles through October).

Calvin Klein Annouce A New PR Director And Kate Moss Is Recording An Album

Monday, Calvin Klein announced the appointment of Christopher Martinelli as director of public relations, men's wear and men's celebrity. He will oversee domestic PR efforts for men’s clothing and accessories for Calvin Klein Collection, Calvin Klein, Calvin Klein Jeans, and Calvin Klein Underwear.


According to Daily Mail, Kate Moss is currently in the studio recording her debut album (side eye). The album will include "a set of edgy urban pop songs." According to a source, the singles should begin to leak around summer/fall of 2011.
