Tom Ford Senior Citizen Ad The Reason French Vogue Editor In Chief Got Fired

Tom Ford's senior citizen spread for French Vogue's December issue, is said to have been the straw that broke the camel's back between Rotifeld and the higher ups at French Vogue.

Roitfeld last month told a source that her bosses received complaints from advertisers over the Ford issue. “I was killed for that,” Roitfeld said. According to several close to the matter, Roitfeld offered to resign when the issue of her management came under question (she was frequently out of the office on shoots). She could have been bluffing, but her resignation was accepted.

Word to the wise, never offer up your resignation, no matter what! Management can be ruthless and take you up on your offer. Not only will you be jobless but not able to collect unemployment benefits. This is ok for Rotifeld because she's a season pro who will snag another gig in no time but for small time punks like us, do not try this at home lol.

French Vogue Has A New Editor In Cheif Emmanuelle Alt She Will Begin Feb 1

Vogue France today annouced Emmanuelle Alt, as editor-in-chief, following the departure of Carine Roitfeld last month.
Alt is credited with styling some of Vogue magazine's most memorable spreads.
The 43-year-old fashion journalist joined Vogue in late 2000, months before Roitfeld, after being recruited by Condé Nast International's chairman, Jonathan Newhouse.
She's good I hear but not the best. I still believe that Sophia Neophitou would have been the BEST choice.

President Obama Will Be Dining At Anna Wintour's House Tonight

Anna Wintour will have Barack Obama over for dinner at her Sullivan Street townhouse to raise money for the Democratic National Committee. Guests will reportedly include fashion liberals like Calvin Klein and Donna Karan, and other important folk with deep enough pockets to pay for a seat, each of which is rumored to cost $30,000.
If you're around the Village today, you may see the preparations taking place. The Huffington Post caught police erecting barriers around Sullivan and MacDougal Streets (MacDougal and Sullivan residents share gardens in the back). I hope this is helping his poll numbers.

In the April issue of Vogue Andre Leon Talley name appears under "contributing editors," not "editor-at-large" as it did in the March issue. Some wonder if 2010 brought changes to André's contract, and whether this has anything to do his new job on America Next Top Model. However, a Vogue spokesman told us, "There’s no more to the story than a title change." He added, "That’s just because he wanted to do more freelance projects."

French Vogue editor in chief Carine Roitfeld and her team were absent from Balenciaga front row Thursday. Turns out they were barred from the show. “We’re blacklisted,” Roitfeld told WWD with a shrug at Nina Ricci later in the day. “It’s too bad, it’s a beautiful house and it’s French. I hope that it’s not forever.” She noted Balenciaga no longer advertises in the magazine or lends it clothes, but stopped short of giving any reason for the rift. “Ask them,” she offered. A Balenciaga spokesman declined comment.
