Versace Awarded $20 Million Stemming From A 2003 Counterfeit Case
Versace announced today that it has been awarded $20 million in damages by the United States District Court for the Central District in Los Angeles for a 2003 case of counterfeiting and trademark violations. Versace chairman Santo Versace appeared himself as a witness in the case, which stemmed from a complaint seven years ago that 72 retail stores in Southern California and Arizona were selling counterfeit Versace products, including Versace, Gianni Versace, Versace Jeans Couture, and V2.

Mohamed Al Fayed, the legendary owner of iconic department store Harrods in London has sold the department store to holding company Qatar Trust for $2.2 billion, say industry insiders close to the deal.
"Mohamed Al Fayed has decided to retire and to spend more time with his children and grand-children," Lazard International Chairman Ken Costa said in a statement. "He has built Harrods into a unique luxury brand with worldwide recognition."
