Versace announced today that it has been awarded $20 million in damages by the United States District Court for the Central District in Los Angeles for a 2003 case of counterfeiting and trademark violations. Versace chairman Santo Versace appeared himself as a witness in the case, which stemmed from a complaint seven years ago that 72 retail stores in Southern California and Arizona were selling counterfeit Versace products, including Versace, Gianni Versace, Versace Jeans Couture, and V2.
